Revolution 1993: Introduction of Pentamix
In 1993 we revolutionised impressions for the very first time with Pentamix, our Automatic Mixing Unit. Successfully! After all, Pentamix has by now become the most commonly used Automatic Mixing Unit worldwide.

Putty - Just Press the Button

High-quality precision impressions obtained with ease

You would not want to do without putty materials for your precision impressions. However, you and your team could easily do without the mixing by hand - and understandably so: Contaminations from glove materials, mixing errors, material waste, or the hygienic requirements can burden the day-to-day routine in your practice. This is about to change.

Precision impressions with putties are automatically and easily under control

You can now easily produce a homogeneous Express Penta Putty mix free of bubbles - at the touch of a button. You and your team can work efficiently, with reliable timing and handling. Preparation and clean-up are limited to a minimum. Even opening the foil bags is fully automatic with the Pentamix. Hygiene and cleanliness! Express Penta Putty is applied directly to the tray and in the required quantity.

  • Constant attainment of top quality in record time
  • Required material volume at the right time
  • Superior impression for the dental technicians work
  • Homogeneous and void-free mixing
  • Dispensing: Just press the button
  • Filling of tray straight from the Pentamix Unit

Express Penta Putty - Comfort and Quality

The high viscosity made significant demands on product development

Considerable challenges had to be overcome to allow automatic mixing of a highly viscous paste with genuine putty characteristics in the Pentamix 2 system. For the impression material, 3M ESPE researchers developed an innovative formulation with reactive polysiloxanes and fillers. As a result, the paste is easy to dispense in spite of its putty-like consistency. The existing Pentamix 2 system was enhanced by specific Penta components: The red Penta mixing tips, modified Penta Matic caps and the metal cartridge have been adapted to the high viscosity.

Like any genuine putty, Express™ Penta™ Putty can be shaped in the tray with your finger Ideal for the two-step putty-wash technique: The preliminary impression is easy to carve

The familiar putty consistency

Express Penta Putty is dispensed by the Pentamix 2 directly into the tray where you can easily and quickly shape it with your finger after only a few seconds. With its high viscosity, the automatically mixed putty offers the same kind of resistance as a genuine hand-mixed putty.

Proper setting, high dimensional stability

Thanks to the highly reactive polymers the intra-oral set time is pleasantly brief and appropriate for the two-step technique used in the dental practice. As a VPS putty Express Penta Putty is characterised by its excellent dimensional stability.

High final rigidity

Impressions are easy to carve because of the high final rigidity provided by the special polymer combination of Express Penta Putty. The high pressure that builds up when inserting the second impression, pushes the wash material precisely and deeply into the sulcus area.

Express™ Ultra-Light Body - Precise and Stable

A complex molecular network meets high expectations

Express Ultra-Light Body is provided with a reinforced VPS network. After setting, the density of the molecular network makes the material mechanically more robust than conventional VPS wash materials.
Before it sets, Express Ultra-Light Body flows out easily in a thin layer. The admirable flow properties are supported by the material’s optimised hydrophilicity. The advantages of this innovative formulation enable Express Ultra-Light Body to precisely meet the requirements of the two-step putty-wash technique.

High tear strength even with fine details Express™ Ultra-Light Body is easily mixed, dispensed and applied with the reliable Garant™ hand dispenser Express™ Penta™ Putty and Express™ Ultra-Light Body: High-precision impressions ensure the optimal fit of the prosthetic restoration

Excellent reproduction of detail, even in a moist environment

The excellent flow properties and optimised hydrophilicity of Express Ultra-Light Body produce high precision impressions with accurate reproduction of detail and ultimately a prosthetic restoration with optimal fit.

Flows easily under pressure, is stable without pressure

The distinct structural viscosity offers clinical relevant product advantage. Under pressure, for example with the two-step impression technique, the flow of the material is very fine and thin. When no pressure is applied, the material remains stable and stationary, on the prepared tooth for example, and will not drip.
